DARUSSALAM Enterprise (DARE) hosted an Enterprise Open Day at Tutong yesterday, inviting local community and businesses to visit a multi-agency showcase to share and discuss business related issues.
The event — attended by some 100 over members of the Tutong community and businesses — is part of DARE’s plan to support both aspiring entrepreneurs and existing businesses.
Talks were also conducted on Brunei’s WAWASAN 2035 — the national vision and aspirational development goals set by the government, efforts on improving the local business environment through the Ease of Doing Business initiatives, modules offered by DARE’s Industry Business Academy and DARE’s efforts to manage industrial sites.
The Energy and Industry Department’s cottage industry and cooperative division discussed what it means to be a cooperative as well as business plan writing.
One-on-one clinics on financial management and business plan writing were held by DARE and Brunei LiveWire, respectively.
Representatives of other government agencies were also at yesterdays Enterprise Open Day to listen to complaints and give advice on relevant issues.
These agencies include the WAWASAN 2035 secretariat, the Ease of Doing Business Unit, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Ministry of Finance, the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry, the Land Department, Municipal Board and the Department of Electrical Services.
Representatives of several private companies were also on hand to promote services. Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Standard Chartered Bank and Baiduri Bank Berhad promoted products suitable for small and medium enterprises.
BAG Networks was also on hand to promote Cendana — a cloud-based accounting platform.
The next Enterprise Open Day will be held in Temburong this month.
DARE is a statutory body which supports local enterprises from start-up to growth.
DARE works closely with government and non-government agencies to foster the growth of business enterprises so as to increase Brunei’s exports and GDP growth.
